Standard Container Transportation

The three container sizes most cargo travels in, and what each means for how it is moved by road.

  • Best for: Importers, exporters and traders moving dry containers
  • Typical use: Port to warehouse
  • We ask for: Container size and type, Loaded weight
  • Availability: Confirmed for each request

Summary

Standard container transportation is the road movement of standard dry shipping containers, which are 20-foot, 40-foot and 40-foot high-cube. Gulf Elite Transport asks for the container size, the loaded weight, the collection and delivery points and the timing, then provides a quotation before the movement is agreed.

Standard Container Transportation overview

A standard dry container is a steel box of fixed outside dimensions, which is why containers are easy to stack on a ship and awkward to move on a road without planning. What changes the plan is not the box but what is inside it: a full container may be heavy enough to limit which vehicle can carry it, and the delivery site may or may not be able to receive it.

Gulf Elite Transport starts with three facts: the size, the loaded weight and the two ends of the journey. From those we assess what can be supported for your dates and provide a quotation before you commit. Port procedures and release arrangements are confirmed individually.

How standard container transportation differs from related services

This page is about the container itself and its size. Port Container Transportation covers moves that start or end at a port. Container Delivery & Collection covers the handover at a customer site, and Container Handling Coordination covers loading and unloading. Specialised containers such as refrigerated, tank, open-top and flat-rack are assessed separately.

What standard container transportation includes

40-foot high-cube containers

A taller 40-foot container for bulky cargo.

Loaded-weight planning

Matching the movement to the actual weight of the load.

Unloading plan
Decide how and where the container is unloaded.

Information we need for a quotation
